Manager of the Braille Department

ASB is a premiere Human Services Agency, serving clients in the tri-state area.  We are seeking an organized self-starter to contribute outstanding, demonstrated management of multiple projects. You will be a hands-on supervisor responsible for working in confidential collaboration with the Director of Braille, managing all aspects of major projects.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with team members to effectively move the deliverables (braille books), training staff and volunteers on system programs, delegating tasks and tracking progress.

 

  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crisis, and devise contingency plans.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and guide project team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Ability to provide cost/time estimates for projects
  • Good scheduling instincts with regard to work flow
  • Customer-service driven personality
  • Hands-on manager
  • Knowledge of/or ability to learn braille.  Certification required in 12 months.

 

We are looking for an individual with excellent communications skills, strong ability to prioritize and organize tasks in a high-pressure environment, and outstanding time-management and problem-solving skills. Must be experienced with Digital Printers & Scanners, with some background with basic hardware and software fixes (debugging). 

 

Focused attention to detail and demonstrated expertise with computer applications (Microsoft Office, InDesign and Illustrator) is required, as well as prior experience working with e-commerce systems for on-line Bookstore.  Some knowledge of DOS, Windows 98, XP operating systems.  Solid staff and project management skills a must.
